Adult Skills Clinic with Coach Laura Friedmann
Full gear and sticks required Join Coach Laura Friedmann for a 75-minute adult hockey skills clinic focused on skating, puck control, and applying those skills in game-like situations. The session will begin with skating and edgework, transition into puck handling, and finish with small-area play. Laura is currently the White Bear Lake Girls High School JV head coach and has also coached with MAP South Hockey and at the USA Hockey National Development Camp. She played four years of club hockey at North Dakota State, including two years as captain, and also played at Ohio State. Both October clinics will cover the same material. Players are welcome to attend either session or both for additional reps and practice.
C Level Pickup
Weekly pickup for players around HF 2 to 3.5, roughly TCR C level. Players above HF 3.5, please don't sign up for this skate. You don't need to play in another league to join, and friends and teammates are welcome if they fit the general level. All players must be 18+. This skate is meant to be fun, balanced, and low-drama. We're looking for players who take short shifts, move the puck, pass, and keep the game friendly. Basically, skate hard, be a good teammate, and don't be a dick.
Welcome to Twin Cities Rec
Hockey is more than just a game here. It's a community. In the summer of 2024, three captains from local hockey teams came together to build a league around the values they cared about most: sportsmanship, community, and safety. We set up Twin Cities Rec as a nonprofit to keep costs affordable for players and to create a positive, respectful place to play, on and off the ice.
Sportsmanship
Respect for the game and each other is at the heart of everything we do. We expect fair play and a positive attitude from every player. Winning is fun, but the real goal is making every game a good time for everyone on the ice.
Community
Some of the best parts of rec hockey happen off the ice. Post-game cookouts, league outings, and charity events help players build lasting friendships across every team. As a nonprofit, we're committed to making sure everyone feels welcome.
Safety
Your safety comes first. We discourage rough and dangerous play, and many of our games are recorded so we can review and address any issues that come up. When players focus on sportsmanship and community, a safer game tends to follow.
