Welcome to Twin Cities Rec Hockey League (TCR)!

At Twin Cities Rec, we’re more than just a hockey league—we’re a community built on three core pillars: Community, Sportsmanship, and Safety. We’ve created a league where the love of hockey brings people together, both on and off the ice.

Community

We believe in the power of connections. Our league is designed to foster relationships both on and off the ice. Whether it’s through post-game cookouts, league outings, or charitable events, we encourage players to build lasting friendships across all teams. As a nonprofit organization, we’re committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome and valued.

Sportsmanship

Respect for the game and each other is at the heart of Twin Cities Rec. We emphasize fair play, mutual respect, and a positive attitude. Our league is about more than just winning; it’s about enjoying the game and celebrating the spirit of hockey. We expect all players to uphold these values, ensuring that every game is a fun and rewarding experience for everyone involved.

Safety

Your safety is our top priority. We are committed to maintaining a safe playing environment by discouraging rough and dangerous play. With many games recorded for review, we can address any issues that arise and ensure a safe experience for all. We believe that by focusing on community and sportsmanship, we can naturally create a safer environment where players can enjoy the game without unnecessary risks.

What Sets Us Apart:

Consistent and Affordable: Each team in TCR will play 17 games during the season, with three 22-minute run-time periods. This format offers nearly the same amount of actual playtime as traditional stop-time periods while reducing game costs by almost 17%. The expected cost per player is approximately $375 per season, making it more affordable than other leagues.

Simplified Logistics: Players register directly with the league, eliminating the need for captains to manage large sums of money. Each team will consist of 13 full-time skaters and a goalie, and teams can more easily use subs as needed, provided they meet the division's skill level.

Invitation-Only Start: TCR will begin as an invite-only league. Players should keep an eye out for emails from their team captains, which will contain a unique team code needed for registration.

Emphasis on Community: TCR isn't just about the games; it's about building connections. We encourage teams to socialize after games, whether it’s enjoying a cold one in the parking lot or heading to a local bar. We’ll also organize additional activities and outings to help players get to know each other better.

Focus on Fair Play and Safety: We are committed to fostering a safe and enjoyable environment for all players. To ensure this, we aim to have all games recorded, either through livebarn at the rink, GoPros, or even ref helmet cams.
