In the summer of 2024, Brandon Hofer, James Valento, and Craig Huerta—three captains from local hockey teams—came together with a shared vision: to create a league that prioritized the values they cherished most—sportsmanship, community, and safety. These captains wanted to foster an environment where players could enjoy the game they loved in a positive, respectful atmosphere. By establishing Twin Cities Rec Hockey League (TCR) as a nonprofit organization, they also aimed to keep costs affordable for players while building a supportive and connected community on and off the ice.
Welcome to the Twin Cities Rec Hockey League, where hockey is more than just a game—it’s a community.
Brandon Hofer is a self-taught adult hockey player who began skating in 2008 with a pair of garage sale skates. Over the past 14 years, he has captained teams, managed leagues, organized charity tournaments, and filled various roles on the ice, including skating out, reffing, and occasionally playing goalie. Outside of hockey, Brandon works as an accounting officer for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and serves on the board of the Midwest Rett Syndrome Foundation. He lives in St. Paul with his wife, Lillian.
Born and raised in MN. I currently reside in Cottage Grove. I’m married to Sarah and have two sons Brady & Connor. I am an American Family agent by trade. I love playing hockey and video games. I’m a huge nerd. I am hoping that this league can be what I hope other leagues would be, a fun and SAFE place to come play hockey with your buddies. I want this league to be the tightest of communities that I get to be a part of. I look forward to seeing everyone on the ice and having a great time.
